Home Sweet Home

I graduated cosmetology school yay! It was so nice to see the words "PASS" on my state board exams. I haven't been home for 6 months so I decided to come home and see my family and friends. Josh came out for a week and it was so much fun! We were both sick...coughing and achy....but feeling much better now:) Josh wanted to do 2 things while he was here, 1. Golf 2. Find an alligator. We went to Hilton Head and found 3 alligators, he wanted to poke at them though....thank goodness we couldn't get close enough:/ And he got to go golfing with my dad (his first introduction to 'no see'ems'). It was also great weather while he was here and not too busy on the Island. I'm excited to go back to Utah in a month or so...it will be interesting to see snow!

Vidal Sassoon

Fran Brown Marinello School Of Beauty is the cosmetology school that I'm finishing my education at here in Utah and it is wonderful! Last week Sally from Sassoon came and demonstrated some hair cutting techniques on a few models. It was such an incredible experience.

These are just some pictures we took on Hilton Head Island before I moved out to Utah. I love my family:)

Packing

Well packing is always an interesting thing. This is the first time I have had to put all of my earthly belongings into my trunk (and back seat unfortunately). It fit, thank goodness, but certainly caused a LOT of stress. Michael was helping me, as we had all my stuff outside the trunk trying to find the best way to 'fit' it all inside he said "Ok I need something that can fit in this little spot between the make-up container and your paper shredder." I picked up what I thought would fit and said "here." He said "what is this?" And I said "It's a bag of bags." .... He said "A bag of bags? Catherine, why do you need a bag of bags!?" I said "Everyone needs a bag of bags!" (then I realized I was probably being a little silly, bringing a bag of bags when obviously that is something I could come across in Utah. The bags were an assortment of gift bags, Hollister and other cool shopping bags, and tissue paper I had collected and was sure I was going to re-use one day when I needed them...). He handed it back to me saying he needed something else, so I picked up another bag and said "Here." Then I realized what that bag was full of and said "It's a bag of containers." You know? Just in case! You never know if you're going to need an extra spray bottle for water or little a container to put hair gel in! He said "Ok I'm telling Mommy."

If I could jump into a movie...

You know those movies you watch and wish you could be one of the characters? The other night I watched "The Legend of Zorro" and definitely wanted to jump in! I would take Catherine Zeta-Jones's character Elena (since we share the same name, of course...). I like it how she's pretty, adventurous, and that she fights! Also, her husband is funny, romantic, and he's Zorro! This movie made me laugh. I'm surprised I'd never watched it before! Mostly, it was their son, Joaquin, and his sling shot that made me laugh. Now I need to watch "The Mask of Zorro." I'm sure it won't disappoint. This is definitely my new favorite movie.

Analogy of a song...

Today in church someone shared a beautiful analogy comparing our lives to a song~

Here are some interesting points that were made:

~Sometimes we want to experience everything in life at once. It is like singing all the verses to a song at the same time. It would be a mess and wouldn't sound very pleasing. When we sing the current melody of the current verse we are on, it is calming and peaceful music. Life must be lived one verse at a time.

~Another thing to remember on the journey of life is that not everyone has the same song, nor is everyone of the same verse. We are all given an individual song to sing and are given the correct notes and words which we are to follow.

And...Happy Mother's Day!

Brotherly Love

I was walking out to the car and heard some commotion on the side of the house. This was what I found. They may look upset, but I'm sure they enjoyed every second of it!

A New Direction

This past week I made the decision to move to Utah. I am very excited, but it will definitely be a big change. Getting everything ready to move is somewhat overwhelming. Moving changes a lot of things. I will miss my family but am excited for what I have to learn and grow from by moving. The school I will be transferring to appears to have a plethora of new skills that I can add to my current repertoire. Exciting hu?

Updates

Life is amazing! I enjoy so many things about each day!

I graduate cosmetology school the end of July. I have learned a lot and am excited to continue learning! Once I graduate I will go to another cosmetology school in Utah to become eligible for a Utah license. Then I plan on finishing the 2 years left that I have of my 4 year degree...but who knows where life will take me! It's always nice to have a plan though:)

One thing I will miss about home, besides the beautiful beach, is my karate on Thursdays and Fridays. I should have my brown belt by the time I leave for Utah in the fall, but black is the next color and hopefully one day I will receive that as well.

I am excited for the summer! I have a lot of work to do as far as school and my job go. I look at it as a way to prepare for the fall out west. That includes working on my tan of course:)

Write more later...
